I am a lot of things to many people. In the business world, I am a Realtor, consultant, marketer, sales rep and a co-worker. In my personal life, I am all those things listed to the right plus more. But who am I to me? Thus begins my journey for the year. The three things I really want my life to be about in 2015: 1) Being made new every morning; 2) Seeking; 3) Winning the day, everyday.
The Bible says "we are new every morning". I have been focusing on this statement of scripture lately because I am not a "morning" person and I tend to lose track of my day easily. I am not sure if you can relate but this is a real struggle for me. It is a new day, each and every morning. So even if I blew it yesterday, today is a new day. By blowing it I mean, didn't eat the proper foods, didn't exercise, didn't get enough work in or was just plain lazy.
Some of my goals for 2015 have been about health and fitness, like most people early in the new year. But this year has to be a different year for me. My one focus word for the year is "seek". Seek means to attempt to find or attempt or desire to achieve. My goal is to "seek" everything. For example, I want to seek better daily habits such as getting up early before everyone else to have a quiet time or meditate. I want to seek better relationships by surrounding myself with like minded, goal oriented, positive people in my personal and business life. Seek God first in everything that I do. Be a better friend. Be a better wife. Be a better mother. And the list goes on and on. But one "seek" at a time. :)
In the business world, you may have heard of Brian Buffini. He is a business coach and teaches about "winning" the day. This simply means setting goals for the day and reaching them. For example, you may have a goal of getting up early, showering and dressing before you head downstairs to coffee. If you hit that goal 4 days of the 7 in the week - you have won the week. If you do that 3 out of 4 weeks in the month, you have won the month. If your goal is to write 5 handwritten notes to friends and business associates a day and you do that, then you have won the day. The purpose is to build good daily habits to eventually win the month and the year. My goal is to win the day at least 4 days a week. Today is a good day! I got up early at 6am, read my Bible, went to the gym, made Kelsey and I breakfast and prepped dinner in the crockpot. That is a winning start to this new day. Definitely a new me from yesterday!
So whether you struggle with laziness, discipline or anything else, just remember we are made new every morning. It is a new start. Forget what happened yesterday, seek and win the day!
