Well the first week is done. A lot has happened and many decisions had to be made.
Here is a recap:
We had a neighbor tell us about a home in the neighborhood that has been vacant for a while. It was in a trust and being cared for by a family member. The neighbor told us they may be interested in selling. We checked it out and decided to make an offer. But we had to get our finances in order first. In ensuring we had enough money to buy the home, we worked with Tim Dineen with New Penn Financial. My "go-to" lender partner. We were able to qualify to buy and hold an investment property (a second home) but our interest rate would be higher due to past credit issues when we owned Rita's in Herndon. We also have a ton of equity in our current home and pulled a very small amount out to add to our savings for the down payment. We were pleasantly surprised, but with a little creative money moving, we were able to purchase the investment property.
Well hopefully this is interesting information! Check out the before photos and some reno photos. I will post again next week. Cheers! Gus and LeAnne
